question:input with options: Title: By and For Macaulayites Review: Lord Macaulay in 1835 promoted a Britush education policy in India that would create a tier of elite Indians who would be brown in skin but think in English values and look up to the British, i.e. suffer from inferiority complex and be easier to rule. This led to a segment of Indians to buy into the theory of "Aryans" coming to India. Particularly the fair skinned from Kashmir, where the author is from, have this hangup about being seen as being at least partially 'white'.Other than that, the Aryan invasion theory she starts off with has no credibility with serious scholars today. It is utter rubbish and any responsible scholar should do her homework. Why doesn't this intelligent, articulate woman take charge of her life and relationship? Love, and all of the inexplicable things it leads us to do, is the answer. I was engrossed by the first part of the book wherein Mary recounted the love affair and eventual suicide of Jim. The second half of the book, in which she recounts her search for answers rang true to me, as the surviver of a loved one's suicide, but was ultimately (and inevitably) unsatisfying. There are no answers out there. It presents the life of a girl and her infatuation with a drug induced loser. Throughout the entire book, I found myself just waiting for her to come to her senses, and get her life back on track. Unfortunately .. as is life I guess, she never does and the book just ends, like it began with no real conclusions. It left me personally with a feeling of utter frustration. Review: If you're relatively new to ADSI control with VBS or VB, you'll find a few annoyances where more practical detail would be helpful. Otherwise, the book is thick with excellent coverage and sample code. The indexes are also well done with a great code library at the back. You'll come back to this one over and over again.
